Got questions about life?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes — you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.
Each evening starts with a meal, a good one. It’s a chance to catch up with people, and get to know others in the group. It helps build a community ready to listen to each other which makes for great discussions.
The topic for the evening is then introduced in a documentary style video that is about 25 minutes long. This excellent material includes interviews, teaching, personal stories and even the odd joke!
Finally and probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
Alpha in Marlow Bottom starts on Thursday 28th September. It runs for 10 weeks with a break for half term. The Course also includes a Saturday. This is a key part of the course – a day away to give time to digest all that we have been thinking about on the course and to learn more about a key tenant of the Christian faith – the Holy Spirit. This day is on Saturday 11th November.
If you are interested in coming on the Alpha Course but cannot make Thursday evenings then why not go on the All Saints Marlow course. They are running Alpha on Tuesday evenings starting on the 26th September. Information about that course can be found from Marilyn Clarke on 01628 472774.
