Do this in remembrance of me
The 4U Team Council wish to consider adopting a policy of admitting children to communion before they are confirmed.
Since 1997 the Church of England has made provision for parishes to adopt a policy to admit children to take Communion before they are confirmed. The 4U Team feel this is something we would like to explore to further our pastoral care, discipleship and mission, with children and families. The Team Council has therefore agreed to start a consultation process on the possibility of adopting such a policy.
It is recognised that this will raise lots of questions and thoughts so Yvonne Morris, Oxford Diocese Children’s Officer, was invited to come and give a talk and help us to think more about the issues. You can listen to Yvonne’s talk by clicking on the embedded YouTube link below:
Following this meeting, the Team Council has produced an FAQ document and will shortly publish a proposed policy.
There will be further opportunities in each church to discuss the matters involved and how it might be implemented, and to express opinions.
The Team Council will then consider the feedback from the churches before reaching a decision.
