Tessa Spong and Leanne Singh-Levett in Concert

The programme features some lovely First World War songs by Gurney who had a High Wycombe connection, Quilter, Howells, Walton, Richard Strauss, and a piano solo, Debussy’s L’isle joyeuse and some lighter items including Gershwin and Porter songs in the second half. 

Tessa Spong is from Cornwall. She graduated with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and studies with Theresa Goble. Recent opera appearances have included The Countess in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro for Duchy Opera’s tour of the South West, the same role for Morley Opera and “Aladolla” in the premiere of Quentin Thomas’ opera Il Giardino d’egli Ucelli in London. Tessa has just returned from an opera gala tour of Italy. Tessa represented the Guildhall School at the European Union Opera Masterclass in Montepulcinano in 1999, performing scenes from Verdi’s Ballo in Maschero and Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte.

Leanne Singh-Levett has built a busy and varied career encompassing song, chamber music, operatic and choral repertoire. A regular staff pianist in the Vocal Department of the Royal College of Music, Leanne also accompanies and coaches the Jette Parker Young Artists at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden. Leanne plays for both Kingston Choral Society and the Imperial Male Voice Choir, and as a répétiteur has worked for Opera East/ROH2, Independent Opera at Sadler’s Wells, Ryedale Festival Opera and Opéra de Baugé as well as the RCM International Opera School.
