Marlow Bottom
The Lantern Church is a vibrant Christian community at the heart of Marlow Bottom, reaching out to serve local families and share the light of Christ. It began 10 years ago as a new expression of faith, born from the congregation of St. Mary’s Church and in partnership with Marlow Bottom Methodist Church. Building on St. Mary’s 60-year legacy of serving the village, The Lantern continues to be a place where people are welcomed, supported, and encouraged to discover God’s love in everyday life.
We’re still buzzing with excitement about this relatively new role! Chapter One has already been written, and it’s been an amazing start. Now, we’re turning the page and beginning a new chapter in our mission to reach the young people of Marlow Bottom with the Good News of Jesus.
We’re looking for someone who knows and loves Jesus, and who has a heart for drawing children and teenagers into the life of the Church—a Church that’s growing into a community of all-age disciples, living for Jesus every day.
If this sounds like you, we’d love you to apply! You can read more about the role here.
We have two services each Sunday and meet together over coffee from 10.30am between the two services.
We meet at St Mary’s Church, 141 Marlow Bottom, SL7 3PJ
The Lantern Church is about much more than Sunday services – we’re a community that seeks to live out our faith every day of the week. One of the key ways we do this is through Small Groups that meet during the week. These are safe and welcoming spaces where people read and reflect on the Bible together, pray for one another, and offer support and encouragement as we navigate life’s challenges and joys.
We’re also passionate about serving and investing in the wider community. Our Youth Group provides a fun and engaging space for young people to explore faith and build lasting friendships. For parents and carers of little ones, our Baby and Toddler Group is a place to connect, relax, and share the journey of early childhood together.
Through initiatives like Community Corner, we offer practical support and a listening ear to those who need it. We actively support local charities such as the One Can Trust Foodbank and Wycombe Homeless Connection, helping to meet urgent needs in our area. Globally, we partner with missionaries working overseas, extending our care and compassion beyond Marlow Bottom.
We also run Alpha courses, creating space for people to ask life’s big questions in a relaxed and open environment. Our church family regularly connects with residents in local elderly sheltered housing, providing companionship and support. And we absolutely love being involved with Burford Primary School, offering our support in practical ways and sharing life with students, staff, and families.
In all of this, we believe faith should be joyful, relational, and lived out in community – so yes, we have a lot of fun along the way!
